Since 1992, artworxLA has served over 15,000 students in over 50 alternative high schools across LA County with 400+ artist residencies and partnerships with over 75 cultural institutions.

MISSION
artworxLA combats the high school dropout crisis with a long-term, sequential arts program offering a pursuable life path that inspires students to stay in school, evolve as unique individuals, and flourish as creative adults.

Through collaboration with cultural centers, post-secondary education, creative businesses, government and supportive services, we leverage resources to benefit alternative school youth in LA County.

LEVEL 1: EXPOSURE
In semester-long School Workshops, professional local artists lead the classroom experience. Students respond to issues of local, national and global importance through multidisciplinary art forms. Students then present their work at museums, cultural and civic centers throughout Los Angeles.

LEVEL 2: SKILL UP
After-school FelIowships give students in-depth experiences in fashion, performance, visual and media arts. Students interact with industry professionals through college-level instruction, and concurrent career and life skills courses emphasize communication and workforce readiness skills.

LEVEL 3: COLLEGE PREP
Summer Scholarships prepare students for post-secondary opportunities with intensive class schedules that earn college credit while still in high school. Some programs include a residential experience where students get a taste of campus life, always with the coaching and support of artworxLA staff.

LEVEL 4: CAREER EXPLORATION
Internship and Job Shadow experiences with creative business mentors in entertainment, marketing and advertising, and event production prepare students for future careers. artworxLA staff provide guidance in the application and interview process, then assist with navigating entry-level work experience in a creative workplace.
