Let’s review what was on the video. Creative writing is a form of self-expression that all you need is your mind, paper, and pencil. Writing like any other art form is a tool that can be used to help you process your feelings. The type of poem you will be creating in the lesson is an affirmation poem. Affirmation is emotional support and encouragement.

Let’s get started.

For this lesson you will need a copy of the affirmation poem template.

Instructions:

  1. Print a copy of the poem template/ or copy it onto a piece of paper.

  2. Fill out all of the blank “__________” spaces.

  3. The blue text in the Affirmation Poem Template below are instructions for meditation, you are encouraged to follow those instructions when you are reading your poem out-loud. By doing so, you are practicing mediation.

  4. When done, read it out-loud to see how it sounds. Great job!

Tip: If for any reason writing is not an option at the moment, then I encourage you to record your poem on any digital device with recording capabilities. The goal of this activity is self-expression in the form of writing or sounding out the words.
