Public Presentations at the Fowler Museum

  • Fowler Museum at UCLA 308 Charles E Young Drive North Los Angeles, CA, 90024 United States (map)

On June 14, artworxLA students presented their work at the Fowler Museum at UCLA in the theme Stories of Everyday and Sacred Healing. This special event was the culmination of 16 weeks in the classroom exploring ways we heal individually, as a community, and globally. Students received a private tour of the exhibition, The Work of Radiance, which showcases works by Haitian artist Myrlande Constant. Her work explores traditional and sacred healing practices, Haitian culture, and the celebration of everyday existence. Students also explored the Fowler's permanent collections, created a collaborative artwork with Los Angeles-based artist Carolyn Castaño, learned stitching techniques from artist Joe Bruns, and enjoyed lunch provided by The Fowler Museum. Most importantly, over 14 schools celebrated their projects, ideas, and hard work with each other during this semester's public presentation.
