Jose Shares His Story

Jose first participated in artworxLA's programs in 2003, after dropping out of high school. His interest for photography kept him on track to graduate. Following his passion for printmaking, Jose became a founding member of Contact photolab located in the Brewery Arts Complex, where he now serves as Chief Technician. "artworxLA's teachers are very dedicated and focused on getting students to learn. When I stumbled on photography through artworxLA, it made me a whole person." Jose invited filmmakers Matt Tolmach and his partner Paige Tolmach to visit the places where he has lived and overcome hardships to arrive at where he is today.
