Staff Departures

Thank you to our dear friends and colleagues Sol Alvarez and Denise Gray. Both of these incredible artworxLA staff members will be leaving our team and venturing onward to continue their careers in the arts. 

Sol Alvarez, daughter of longtime artworxLA Teaching Artist Gloria Alvarez, grew up connected to artworxLA as a teenager and has been a member of our artworxLA staff since 2003. As our Advanced Programs Manager, Sol formalized our advanced programs by instituting our leadership development component and mentorship progress. She also forged partnerships with college art conservancy schools and guided students toward obtaining admission in higher education institutions.

Denise Gray joined artworxLA as our Education Programs Manager in 2011. Denise imparted with the organization her knowledge in the arts and museums while also sharing her ability to managed family, youth and teen programs. During her tenure as Educations Programs Manager, she examined the issues and challenges facing artworxLA teens. She increased training and professional development support for Teaching Artists to ensure the highest caliber of training and consistency in our program delivery.
