For students who fully engage in and successfully complete the Level 2 After School Fellowships, artworxLA provides the opportunity for summer experiences. artworxLA has sustained relationships with some of the country’s most prestigious art schools and programs such as Otis College for Design, Art Center College of Design, and the University of Southern California.
After a student has expressed commitment to a summer program, our staff assists them through the entirety of the application and acceptance process, from crafting their personal statement to meeting their family members or guardians on move-in day. Additionally, artworxLA provides students with art supplies, ipads or computers for the duration of the program, and staff schedule weekly check-ins with each student to ensure their successful completion of the program.
In 2024, Milana and Leslie attended the residential program Summer of Art at Otis College for Design, Isaak lived at USC during the Exploration of Architecture program at USC, and Johnny participated in the ACXTeens classes at Art Center College of Design.

Isaak S., USC Exploration of Architecture
“I've learned how abstract architecture can be and also how difficult it is. Although I was nervous, it was exciting. I'm so grateful for the opportunity that artworxLA helped me get.”
Summer of Art
is an intensive, college-immersion experience designed for young creatives in high school. This residential program is four weeks long, and students engage in classes, field trips, and campus life. Courses are taught by award-winning instructors who are practicing professionals, many of whom teach in Otis BFA and MFA programs.
ACX Teens
is an extension program of ArtCenter College of Design, offering art and design courses for teens ages 14-18 (or 9-12 grades). Though courses are offered all year long, our students attend during the summer, either in intensive classes (everyday for 1-2 weeks) or summer workshops (every Saturday for 14 weeks).
USC Exploration of Architecture
engages high school students in the architectural design process, analyzing architecturally impactful places and buildings, and provides conversations with leading architects. Students live on the campus, allowing them to become acquainted with USC, college life, and like-minded peers.
Students have also participated in: Ryman Arts, CalArts' Community Arts Partners Summer Arts program (CAPSA), UCLA Summer Sessions: Sci|Art Lab+Studio, Earthwatch, Brentwood Art Center, and Idyllwild Arts.
