Guest Artist at the Design and Media Arts Academy
On April 11th, students at the Design and Media Arts Academy got a special visit from Jules de Balincourt. Balincourt is well known for his abstract, atmospheric paintings which blur the line between fantasy and reality. During the workshop, Jules shared his own creative career pathway through the arts and conducted an observational still life workshop where students learned how to break away from traditional Dutch master still life by using native plants, pulling inspiration from our 2018-19 theme, Human Nature: Indigenous Knowledge and the California Landscape with our cultural partner the Autry Museum of the American West. Thank you, Jules, for spending time at the academy and for sharing your creative journey with our students!
